About Open-Entry/Open-Exit Courses

Several courses operate on an open-entry/open-exit format. These courses are indicated with Open Entry in the dates column. Open-entry/open-exit classes allow students to enroll at any time throughout the year, selecting from a variety of schedules. Students are expected to attend the agreed number of hours each week and progress through the course at a steady pace in order to complete by their end date.

Students entering an open entry course and registering online must meet with their instructor to determine their completion date. The instructor will turn the completion date in to registration. Students entering an open entry course and registering in person will receive their start and end dates at registration. Students may exit classes upon successful completion of outlined competencies. In some courses, additional hours may be purchased in 1/4 credit hour segments if more time is needed to develop the required competencies.

Students may register in an open entry course at any time provided:

  • The course is open for enrollment
  • Space is available
  • All required prerequisite assessment and/or course work has been successfully completed
  • Orientation and/or submission of records, if required, have been successfully completed

If a class is closed or full, you are encouraged to put your name on a waiting list for the next available opening or enrollment period.
